Discover Student Tropical Beach: Great Looking Card for Bettering Credit

Like many of the student cards, the Discover Student Tropical Beach is made for those who are students and have limited or average credit history. The card offers cash rewards as well as a number of other standard card rewards. This makes it ideal for building credit, and with a tropical beach design, it is a nice looking card too.

Through the Discover reward program, the Discover Student Tropical Beach card lets users earn 5% in cash rebates for purchases made with merchants who have partnered with Discover. Additionally, up to 1% can be earned for other purchases. That one percent is part of a program where the percentage earned back goes up based on the amount spent per year. To max out at the 1%, card users will have to spend at least $3,000 annually.

There are no limits on the amount of rebates that can be earned in a year. Also, the rebates do not expire so long as the account is kept active within 36 month periods. This makes the package attractive for any mid-level credit card.

Though the APR for the card is higher than usual, there is a 0% introductory offer through the first six months. Since the charges are figured on a two cycles average daily balance method, users should try to pay balances off every month once that introductory rate passes.

If you are a student who needs to extend and expand his or her credit, then this may be just the card you are looking for. With rebates, no limits on earnings, and good basic perks, this card is worth a look.
