Editor's review:
The Discover Platinum Card represents one of the most solid cards on the market. In addition to offering the top cash rewards program in the industry, the Discover Platinum card has other features that are very customer friendly. Let’s dig a little deeper and check out this “card that pays you back”. A very cool feature of the Discover Platinum card is the ability for customers to choose the design of their card. In fact, Discover offers more than 150 unique designs that are sure to fit any lifestyle. Once you decide on the look of your card, there’s even more to like inside the numbers. The Discover Platinum card offers 0% APR for the first year on all balance transfers and purchases. This is a very attractive feature that can benefit any consumer. After the introductory period, the APR becomes at a rate 10.99%. This is still a very competitive rate among all credit card companies, and puts Discover Platinum near the top of the heap. One final number to love about Discover Platinum is zero, as in no annual fee. What’s not to love about that? The Discover Platinum card also offers a great Cash Rewards program. Here’s how it works: Your first $1,500 in purchases earns you .25% cash back. Your second $1,500 in purchases earns you .50% cash back. After that, you will earn a full 1% of each purchase you make with the card. The program is very simple to understand, and Discover deserves credit for making it so user friendly. For all of these reasons and more (fraud protection, quality customer service, etc), the Discover Platinum remains one of the absolute best credit card choices. If you are in the market for a new credit card or looking to transfer a high rate balance, this card should definitely be a top consideration. User reviewsNever had problemGood card, it has been accepted more and more places since I first got it. The cashback is pretty decent and I have recently transferred the balance over to another card and they were more than helpful. Once I had a problem and they said I didn't pay, I did, so they credited my account for the amount, very nice customer service people.posted by Candice M., 6 out of 11 people found it helpful Discover is TOO PICKYI purchase EVERYTHING with Cash Rewards cards, including utilties, doctors, dining out, groceries, etc. I have about 5 cards that do it all. And Discover is the one I like the least. When there was a gas/grocery/drugstore promotion, over 1/3 of my gas purchases did not count for cash rewards since I had NOT purchased them at Gas Stations like Exxon or Hess (gas was REALLY high at this time). All my purchases at Ingles Gas Express DID not count since this was considered a grocery store. I imagine that Walmart gas purchases would be the same. ALSO, some convenience stores did not count. I called and complained and they took a week to investigate and gave me BACK rewards purchases for Ingles..not the conveniece stores, but would not honor it for future purchases. I said to heck with this and went back to AT&T, Citi and Chase for these purchases. Also, I reached my limit, WAY before the 3 months was up. You can only spend about $400 or so and I spend much more than that per month. Not worth it. Only pro I see for this card is that sometimes they offer 5% back on something unique like this month it is Doctor Visits.7f So you could have your wisdom teeth pulled for 2000 dollars and earn 5%. This is only temporary though since it is for 3 months.posted by Sharon, 5 out of 10 people found it helpful Discover Card makes good senseI like this card because i've had it for over 2 years and i get a nice cash back bonus every year with it.posted by Matt S., 4 out of 9 people found it helpful DISCOVER CARD WAS THE WORST CARD I EVER HADI had a dispute with a piano retail store over a purchase. Discover card company helped the store charge me anyway, no matter how hard I explained the dispute to them. They simply would not listen. Since then I had never used Discover Card again. They simply don't care small customers.posted by ALEX, 4 out of 9 people found it helpful |
